Caveat Emptor — ViewSonic
¡Cuidado! Compadres….
Beware, if you are in the market for a projector. I just got ‘stung’ by ViewSonic over one of their projectors.
Seems that their attitude is along the lines of giving you the projector, at $2000, and then selling you the lamps that it goes through like an elephant does peanuts, at $400 each.
We had been looking for a projector for business and pleasure purposes a year or so ago. And we came across the ViewSonic PJ250 which was compact, light weight, powerful, and had very impressive features attached to it. So we bought it.
Now, eighteen months later, after using it less than 50 hours, the lamp blew out.
I talked with their tech support people who said that the lamp was rated for 2000 hours. But they caveated their statement with, “Your experience may vary.” Nice little strategem that. It’s like my gas mileage may vary from their ‘standard’, especially if I actually use the car. If I don’t use the car, the gas will last almost forever, once I fill it up. However, if I use the car and drive it in a manner any reasonably prudent individual would, I would expect to get the sort of mileage the car was rated at. Preferably better. However, if I drive the car, as stated above and instead of getting 28 mpg, I see I’m getting 5 mpg, and the car is acting normally, this is something of a problem.
In the venue of light bulbs, if you buy a light bulb that says it will last for 2000 hours and you only get 50 hours out of it, there is something VERY WRONG here.
It could be a fluke. We’ll give ViewSonic another shot with another lamp. But we’ll be watching this one closely and clocking it’s performance in a log. If IT fails in less than 1600 hours, we’ll tell you ALL about it, so that you and everyone else who pays heed will know that you can’t trust ViewSonic as far as you can throw their owner’s manual.

First of all, I did not purchase this item .. rather this review is for Viewsonic support. I purchased a Viewsonic Factory Refurbished VX2835WM 28” LCD Widescreeen monitor that was delivered to me on August 20th. 48 Hours later (yes, a mere two days folks!) the monitor was dead. It would not power on, PK0-002 braindumps nor display any sign of life. Power cords and outlets checked out okay. Nothing. As this was a refurbished unit the vendor was unable to replace it as they were out of stock, but I was told to contact Viewsonic. My first call to them resulted in an clueless rep telling me there was nothing they could do. I called back and spoke to someone else who told me the refurb unit carried a 30 day warranty. I snidely asked him 30 days from the time it left their factory or 30 days from date of purchase? Suprisingly, they issued an RMA but I had to ship it back to their factory in Walnut CA at my expense ($50. I was told it would be approx 14 days before I got it back. I shipped it on Aug 22, 2008 and it arrived on their dock on Aug 27, 2008. I checked the RMA status online a couple days later and there was no record of receipt showing. I called viewsonic and was told it sometimes takes up to 72 hours for an item to be checked in. (Mine took 120—or 5 days) Today, September 10, 2008 I called to check status, as surely one would think it would be repaired by now… I was then (politely) informed that the 14 days are 14 BUSINESS DAYS.. and they commence from the date the item is checked in.. 642-242 braindumps meaning I will have to wait until at least September 23, 2008 before I can expect any update. If at that time the monitor could not be repaired, I will be offered a comparable model replacement if identical model is not available…
If this is any indication of the level of support you receive when you purchase a Viewsonic product, you should keep my experience in mind…JN0-342 braindumps on 08/01 at 03:29 AM
