Ethics In Pueblo Government — Part 1

Questions for our City Fathers and Mothers.

Last night, at the regular City Council meeting, Susan Pelto, President of the Old Historic Northside Organization (OHNO), addressed the city’s government officials during the Open Forum period of the meeting.

In her address she asked the City Council members to answer some questions relating to their participation in business and other activities in the OHNO area.

Here is the content of her statement…..

Dear City Council Members:

In the next few months, Council will be voting on several issues of particular interest to my neighborhood, and the residents have concerns about special interests Council members may have in the area. We respectfully ask, therefore, that you answer the following questions in the spirit of being open and ethical in your actions regarding these issues:

Do you currently, or will you likely in the future, own property or have a business relationship with any organization within the boundaries of the neighborhood, from 13th St to 29th St and I-25 to West St.?

Have you in the past, do you now, or are you likely in the future to be a member of a governing board of a non-profit or other organization with property or business interests within the boundaries? If so, what are they?

Are you currently, or likely to be in the near future, a member of a non-profit organization with property or business interests within the neighborhood’s boundaries?

We’d like your responses by the end of the week. You can go to the website, http://www.pueblog.us, in order to respond to these questions.

This letter was distributed to the City Council members and Mr. Galli, City Manager, at the end of her presentation.
