Neighborhood Watch
National Night Out was a success with Neighborhood Watch events taking place over a three week span. Target donated door prizes and food for some of the locations. Target employees also participated in several meetings to show their support. Hyde Park has held several Neighborhood Watch meetings with terrific turnout. Eastwood Heights has shown great support for Neighborhood Watch and held a meeting of over 50 people. To receive a neighborhood watch packet, call for 553-2519.
City-Wide Graffiti Removal
The Eastside Neighborhood is sponsoring the ” City Wide Graffiti Removal ” September 15, 2007 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Each Neighborhood is responsible for surveying their area for graffiti on buildings, homes, fences etc., also the location. (Back, side, front, Try to match exterior of building, etc. with paint as close as possible.)
Once you’ve surveyed your neighborhood, get a list of colors needed. To request donated paint, just call Jack Pendleton at Eden Transfer Recycle Center at 240-0504. The Recycle Center is located off I-25 to Exit 104—go under the bridge and take the frontage road—north to Quartz—then left on Quartz.
You will need a truck or trailer to carry paint. Ask your neighborhood volunteers to bring items that are in most people’s garages such as Rollers, brushes and roller sleeves.
PLEASE REMIND VOLUNTEERS TO WEAR OLD CLOTHES AND SHOES. PAINT SPLASHES/SPLATTERS EVERYWHERE.
We hope each Neighborhood Association will participate. We will make HISTORY. Spread the Word.
EACH NEIGHBORHOOD SHOULD CONTACT BUSINESSES IN YOUR AREA FOR DONATIONS OF MATERIALS. THANKS TO DAVE FEAMSTER OF LITTLE CEASAR’S FOR DONATING PIZZA FOR ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS.
Questions? Call Eva Montoya at 250-5098
Eastside Neighborhood Association
The Eastside Neighborhood Association is pleased to report that thanks to a grant from Step Up, their community garden is already flourishing!
There are several organizations and individuals that ENA wishes to thank, including:
The Board of Water Works for providing a water meter.
CSU Cooperative Extension has provided their Master Gardeners to oversee the planting and offer their expertise.
Urban Gardens from Denver will be providing volunteers and resources.
Sprirtual guidance and gardening has been lovingly proved by Julie Kuhn from Step Up.
This organic garden which is also ADA accessible will feature vegetables, flowers, and bulbs.
The Eastside Neighborhood Association has a wish list of items that they need donated including rakes, shovels, hoes, and a weed eater or two. If you or someone you know has these items and would like to make a tax-deductible donation call ENA at 778-2250. Volunteers are also needed to get the garden started as well as providing ongoing maintenance of the area.
Bessemer Association for Neighborhood Development
The Bessemer Association for Neighborhood Development (BAND) is already gearing up for the holidays.
Each year, hundreds of strings of lights are strung on the trees lining Northern Avenue from the I-25 bridge to Orman Avenue as well as at Minnequa Park. BAND does this to herald in the holidays and to beautify this sometimes neglected area of the city. Once all the lights are up, what a beautiful sight it is to drive down Northern Avenue after dusk and see the beautiful twinkling of lights!
BAND is asking neighborhood groups from throughout the City of Pueblo for volunteers to assist with this worthy project. Volunteers will gather at Minneua Park on Saturday, November 17th and will then be sent out to begin decorating Northern Avenue. To volunteer, call Sandy at 250-0272.
And Last But Not Least….
The entire group of the Pueblo Neighborhood Partnership wants to extend our very best wishes to our biggest advocate and friend, David Cockrell. We look forward to working with Dave in his new capacity on many future endeavors. Dave, your integrity, your enthusiasm, and your “roll-up-your sleeves and get your hands dirty” attitude will be sorely missed. We know that you will train your successor well. We send our best wishes to our friend, Dave. You are an inspiration to each and every one of us!
