OHNO Board Meeting – Feb. 3, 2007 – Minutes
Call to Order 6:00 PM
Present: Susan Pelto, Janet Dash, Georgine Booms, Kerri Farmer, Angela Giron, Heather Norton, Chuck Pelto, Steve Nawrocki (non-voting)
Item 1. Pueblo Partnership Meeting at 11 am Tuesday Feb. 6. The Pueblo City/County Health Department will determine clean up day schedule. We would like a day in April or early May if possible, or in the fall. The neighborhood group sells coupons that allow a resident to bring trash to the dumpster provided by the city. We also want to set a little extra fee on top for OHNO.
Item 2. OHNO organizational structure
President – chair meetings, Susan Pelto
Vice President – fill in for Susan, becomes president next term, Kerri Farmer
Secretary – minutes, provides copy for newsletter, Janet Dash
Treasurer – handles the money, Georgine Booms
Program Officer – sets up programs for meetings, provides copy for newsletter, confirms meeting location with Temple Emmanuel, Heather Norton (program ideas include: Pioneer Cemetery, Parks Dept., and Health Dept)
Communications – notices to newspaper, writes newsletter, Chuck Pelto
Outreach – events, membership, Angela Giron
Item 3. Provide donation can at OHNO meetings and have volunteers bring goodies each time.
Item 4. Dues. The by-laws allow all residents to be a member of the organization by virtue of their location in the neighborhood. However, dues are also allowed to be set. The finance committee has met and determined there should be benefits of membership. OHNO could provide a newsletter only to members but by selling ads to businesses the distribution should be to all residents in the neighborhood. Is exclusivity a good thing? The newsletter costs 0.08 to produce at two pages. It would cost $2.82 to mail. At six mailings per year, that adds up to $16.92/household annually for a guaranteed newsletter delivery. There are several businesses in the neighborhood that might like to run an ad. We must also consider no or low-income families. Perhaps a paying/registered member gets a phone call and a mailed newsletter.
Item 5. Kerri wants a sign-up sheet for committees at the OHNO meeting and Angela will have a membership form for all to look at and comment on.
Item 6. Angela motioned for a $10 membership fee with $5 fee for low-income families. No one is denied membership however. Janet seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Item 7. Susan set the meeting agenda for Tuesday.
After about half hour of socializing meeting will come to order at 7
