OHNO BoD Meeting Minutes — July 2007

Old news is better than no news.

Click on ‘More….” to see the minutes of the July meeting of the OHNO Board of Directors.

OHNO Board of Directors Meeting
July 18, 2007 – Susan and Chuck Pelto Residence, 425 W. 18th Street

Call to Order – 7 PM. Attendees: Susan Pelto, Chuck Pelto, Georgine Booms, Angela Giron, Heather Norton, and Janet Dash. Kerri Farmer absent. Guests: Steve Nawrocki and Carolyn Lowrey
Minutes of last meeting: change spelling of Mary Tonne’s last name and accept as corrected.
Unfinished Business:
Nonprofit Status – Susan shared a book about nonprofits, brief discussion was held about need for attorney review. Topic shelved to another meeting.
Newsletter – Use of different ink has reduced the printing costs from $33/100 to $11/100. Next month’s theme will be Historic preservation with an article on the block party. Chuck noted that we need to survey households and determine who got a newsletter, if folks would like email delivery, or if they just don’t want one. Discussion about running ads for Rosemount and their Treasure Trove sale before the party. Also would like to include a restaurant review in newsletter.
Treasurer’s Report – Georgine reports $539 in the OHNO account. Frank Valliant donated $100 for Historic Preservation.
Committee Reports
Historic District – the brochures are completed and walkers are organized. Northern area will be covered first and Rosemount will be done one month later. Most neighbors are happy about the historic district designation. HPI will accept donations for us.
Mineral Palace Park – no meetings recently. One of the recently planted trees appears to be dead/dying but it isn’t really. Carolyn will call Jean Latka about it. She will also call Rich Zajac about the tree maintenance. If no response from Rick the secretary will draft a letter for Susan to sign and submit. Committee members are submitting park evaluation forms to Mary Woodman for processing.
ACTION ITEM: Check with Carolyn about contacting Rich Zajac.
Block Party – Carolyn and Angela reported the party will be on the grounds of Rosemount. Tents, tables, and chairs will be provided. They will have entry tickets for door prize drawings. An OHNO table will be set up to provide membership information.
Membership – Angela is incorporating several lists into one official list (dues-paying members, emergency notification, the SRDA calling list, etc).
Block Captains – nothing
Programs – Heather has arranged for Dr. Barber with the CARE Program to speak at the next OHNO meeting. She will discuss brownfields, neighborhood revitalization, LUSTS, mercury, asbestos, stormwater, lead paint, etc. Chuck and Janet are bringing refreshments. Everyone is encouraged to bring flashlights for the walk home in recognition of National Night Out.
Traffic – Tim Nawrocki is working in Denver on a special project and has been unavailable for committee action.
Clean Up Committee is finished the year.
Code Violations – Heather asked us to take photos to document violations and she will document all her calls to the violations phone line. The next program will be about Pueblo city codes.
New Business
Membership list issues – who needs the lists and who should keep the official version. The membership chair will keep the lists and the communications chair will have a copy. This was discussed extensively under membership.
Announcements
Newsletter deadline is this coming Sunday evening.
ACTION ITEM: Submit articles to Chuck for the newsletter by this Sunday.
Art in the Park is again being held the last Sunday in the month through August.
Historic Pueblo, Inc will be selling brass plaques for $125 starting at 9AM Saturday at Angela and Steve Nawrocki’s home.
I-25 esthetics meeting held last week. Interesting concept on how to view Pueblo from the highway, or the highway from Pueblo. Landscape architect led the discussion with group input at the end.

Adjourn at 8:15 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Janet Dash
OHNO Secretary
